Considering the Money in the Bank event revolves around the use of ladders, it came as no surprise that they were going to be featured in some crucial spots or be used as weapons at some point.It primarily focuses on the Money in the Bank matches themselves, with two lucky stars making that long climb up the ladder to unhook the briefcase and all but guarantee themselves a run as world champion at some point.
MONEY IN THE BANK
Although, one winner managed to cash-in on the same night to leave with a championship title as Alexa Bliss gatecrashed the RAW Women's Championship match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey to leave as a five-time women's champion.
While Braun Strowman was the victor in the men's ladder match, the man everyone is talking about right now is Kevin Owens.
Owens was featured alongside The Monster Among Men, Finn Balor, Bobby Roode, The Miz, Kofi Kingston and Rusev - but Owens managed to steal the show for the wrong reasons during one ridiculous ladder spot with the eventual winner.
Owens planned it all week - he was going to eliminate the significant threat that is Strowman by having the rest of the stars team up with him instead. That's what happened at the beginning of the contest as he was left buried in a pile of ladders on the stage before fighting back like the monster that he is.
The teamwork didn't end there either. Owens, Rusev and Samoa Joe teamed up again with the SmackDown LIVE stars pinning Strowman down on a table while Owens climbed one of the gigantic ladders planted towards the stage.
LADDER SPOT
As expected - and as you'll be able to see below - Strowman fought out of it and chased Owens back up the ladder. Despite some begging from Owens, Strowman launched him through a pair of tables to a ridiculous reaction from fans both inside of the arena and on social media.
He sold it perfectly too, as he didn't emerge after that spot while Strowman went on to claim the briefcase.
Owens had drawn universal praise long before he joined the WWE for the bumps he takes and what he puts his body through.
But what he did at Money in the Bank in Chicago on Sunday just takes it to a new level in what many would compare it to the legendary Mankind bump from the top of the cell.
Owens is undoubtedly going to feel that one for a while.
