The WWE was in Chicago on Sunday night for the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, so naturally, CM Punk was going to be the talking point. One thing the Chicago crowd is notorious for is chanting for their hometown hero, even though he's not been in the WWE for years now and has since focused his attention towards mixed martial arts instead.

CHICAGO

Usually, WWE is able to masterfully handle the Chicago crowd when they attempt to hijack the show with loud CM Punk chants, but they have cracked in the past on a couple of occasions by stopping the fans in their tracks and silencing them in an instant.

Most recently, Elias shot down the chants during a promo with John Cena before WrestleMania 34. But it's been Stephanie McMahon who hasn't shied away from addressing Punk's debut defeat in the UFC - so fans probably thought that during the Money in the Bank kickoff show, somebody from management would have been in Booker T's ear.

Punk's second defeat in the UFC came last weekend, meaning he's now 0-2 with Corey Graves stealing the headlines for his toxic Twitter outburst aimed at his former friend. Considering the loss is still fresh in the memory, and the WWE was in Chicago, fans fully expected the company to poke fun at it, and they did it via Booker T.

When the panel was discussing Ronda Rousey's RAW Women's Championship match against Nia Jax, Booker explained how it's difficult to jump from one promotion to the other and try to win or take over, before throwing a major cheap shot at the former WWE Champion.

CM PUNK

As you'll be able to see below, he said: "We saw CM Punk trying to run in the UFC and try to take it over.

"That boy got the brakes beat off of him just a couple of weeks ago!"

When you take into account that the WWE never mentions anything else Punk does outside of the UFC or the WWE, it's evident that Booker was given the green light to take aim at Punk's second embarrassing loss in the UFC.

While the majority of fans were left in stitches at Booker's low blow, a minority aren't pleased that WWE is still aiming jokes at Punk who hasn't said anything too negative about the company publicly in recent times.

Still, it's probably a good thing that the crowd in attendance didn't hear what Booker T had to say about Punk.
