The 2018 NBA Draft is just days away and there is real anticipation for this year's class with some exciting talent set to enter the league. There is a real buzz around several of the players who are expected to be selected in the top 10. But much of the hype is surrounding one player in particular who will be making the jump from Europe. It's extremely rare to see so much intrigue and excitement around a European player but Luka Doncic is seen as a special talent. The Slovenian is currently plying his trade for Real Madrid and has a huge advantage over his fellow draft class by playing professionally against seasoned veterans. The way he's performed against more experienced counterparts is one of the reasons why there is a real expectancy that he can become a star in the NBA.

Already a star

He will be making the move to the States as one of the most decorated European players as he was recently named as the Euroleague MVP and Euroleague Final Four MVP after leading Madrid to the championship.

The 19-year-old is projected to be selected in the top five but there are still some doubts about how his game will translate to the NBA as he maybe lacks the physicality and athleticism compared to other players in the draft.

But his ability with the ball is unquestionable and has been on display all year and has the skills to become an elite playmaker in the league.

Arizona center Deandre Ayton is expected to be selected first by the Phoenix Suns and Doncic could then land anywhere from second to fifth.

The youngster has supreme confidence in his ability and has warned any team that passes on him will be making a mistake.

"Pick one to five, it will be amazing to be selected there, especially for a European guy," Doncic told Yahoo Sports.

"I need to show it on the court, because I need to prove it. I can see who made a mistake not drafting me. After my rookie season, I will see who made a mistake. I'm motivated to enter the draft. I'm excited to play in the NBA and play against these stars."

This is the level of confidence Doncic will need to succeed at the highest level but after facing older professionals in Europe, he has every right to be sure about himself and what he can achieve.

He can play multiple positions and has great size and length at 6'8", coupled with great ball-handling ability, so there's no doubt that he can succeed in this current NBA and live up to the hype.
