England have finally won their opening group game of a World Cup.

After a 2-1 loss to Italy in 2014 and a 1-1 draw with the USA in 2010, Gareth Southgate's young side got the job done vs Tunisia in Volgograd.

Harry Kane scored in injury-time to seal a 2-1 victory that will be remembered for a long time by England fans.

Progression to the last-16 now looks very much on the cards, particularly with Panama the next game to come for the Three Lions.

While beating Tunisia may not be viewed as the greatest of results, it's vital to get off to a winning start at a World Cup, something Germany, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil have failed to do.

Germany in particular face a tough task to even get out of their group after the holders lost 1-0 to Mexico.

Sweden are their next game and they will be no pushovers.

And what was really interesting is how the German media reacted to England's result over Tunisia, with Bild publishing some very interesting words.

We never thought we'd hear the Germans say this.

Translated by the Daily Mail, Bild first wrote as their headline: "We wish we had Kane!"

They then wrote: 'There are a few things in life that you can rely on: spring following winter, Bayern winning the title, and England making fools of themselves at the World Cup."

Bild certainly went back on the last one, writing: "There's something different about England at this World Cup.

"They played like Germany should play, fast and direct.

"It may be very early in the tournament, but that is how world champions win games," they concluded.

"Even if they aren't good enough to win the title this year, in two years time, when they have a bit more experience and a few more young talents have come up, England will be ready to win the European Championships," wrote the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

Just beautiful to read. Bild even published "we could do with a poacher like him against Sweden" about Kane.

Sorry lads, he is ours.
