After a disappointing end to what was a promising season, the Toronto Raptors could be prepared to make significant changes to their roster this summer. They suffered a third consecutive playoff elimination at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers and a second straight sweep. That was after they'd won a franchise-record 59 games in the regular season and claimed the number one seed for the first time in their history. But even though the Cavs had a campaign full of turmoil and overhauled their roster at the trade deadline, they still managed to overcome the Raptors with relative ease. This led to Dwane Casey losing his job in the aftermath of that series but he may not be the only person to depart the team before the 2018-19 campaign tips off.

Shaking things up

They could be prepared to make trades and according to Marc Stein of the New York Times, Toronto is hoping to receive a top-10 pick in the draft and nobody on their roster is off limits.

In response to this news, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake City Tribune claimed that Kyle Lowry is very much available and could be at the forefront of any potential deal.

This should come as no surprise as it's been expected that the team may shake things up after failing badly in the postseason again.

Lowry was re-signed to a three-year, $100 million contract last summer but his partnership with DeMar DeRozan doesn't appear to be working out and one of them may have to be sacrificed.

The 32-year-old is still one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference but if the reports are true and the Raps want to blow things up, it would make sense that they offload Lowry instead of DeRozan.

But it's unclear if there will be a huge market for the four-time All-Star who will be owed more than $60 million in the next two years.

There aren't many contending teams with enough cap space to take on his contract and it's unlikely that a rebuilding team will have any interest in him.

The reality is that the Raptors may struggle to ship the veteran as he approaches the latter years of his career.

But it's becoming more apparent that the Canadian outfit is seeking to make changes and could be big players in the trade market this offseason.
