The LeBron James sweepstakes are in full flow as the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar nears his hugely anticipated free agency. The 33-year-old's future is the biggest talking point this summer as he ponders where to play his basketball next season. He has serious interest from the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers who are all hoping to hold talks with him.But one team certainly not expected to have any chance of landing James is the Utah Jazz and their young star Donovan Mitchell is not too disappointed about that.

Competition

In a recent promotional tour in the Philippines, the shooting guard admitted that if he had a choice, he'd prefer to compete against the league's best player rather than play with him.

But he made it clear that he would happily welcome him with open arms if he somehow decides to relocate to Salt Lake City.

“If I had a choice on playing [with] him or beating him, I’d rather beat him,” said the reigning NBA Slam Dunk champion, per Rappler. “But if he wants to play with the Jazz, then we’ll take him of course.”

Mitchell is a competitor and wants to test himself against the best to improve his game but he stopped short of saying that he wouldn't want to play on the same team as the King.

“Would I want to [play with him]? Who wouldn’t?” he said.

But the 21-year-old, however, doesn't have the same view towards Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George.

The small forward will also become a free agent on July 1 but Mitchell has been doing his part to recruit him to Utah and once again made a pitch to PG13.

“We want to win, we’re not selfish. I’m not the type of guy who’s kind of like, Oh, it’s my team. I’m a rookie, a second-year player. He’s an All-Star," he said, per CNN Philippines.

“If he comes in, it’s gonna make our life easier in the offensive end. He’s a great defender. We have guys who want to play with him. We went through a tough first series because of him.

“We have guys that understand what it takes. If we don’t score 30, it’s not the end of the world to us. I think a guy like [George]—and I single him out specifically—would thrive in our organisation.”

The chances of the five-time All-Star taking his talents to the Jazz would be extremely slim but Mitchell maybe believes they have more a chance with George than they do with LeBron.
