Barcelona desperately wanted to bring him to the Camp Nou but Antoine Griezmann recently committed his future to Atletico Madrid.
The 27-year-old French forward revealed his decision to stay in a half-hour long documentary which was screened last week.
However, Griezmann has received plenty of criticism for the controversial way he decided to announce his decision.
"I received a lot of love and a lot of encouragement," he told Telefoot. "Love and my heart made me stay.
"I wanted to show people how we make our decisions. Some have enjoyed it and others have not."
According to various reports in Spain, Griezmann's €100m release clause at Atletico has now doubled to €200m.
His decision to reject Barcelona caused plenty of unrest in Catalonia but it's also upset one of his La Liga rivals.
Why Ronaldo is 'fuming'
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo is 'fuming' after Griezmann signed a bumper new deal at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The 33-year-old Portuguese forward caused a huge stir with a post-match comment after winning the Champions League in Kiev.
"It was nice to have played for Real Madrid," said Ronaldo.
It's understood that Ronaldo said this to reporters because he's frustrated to be earning less than both Leo Messi and Neymar.
Griezmann's new deal at Atletico means the former Manchester United winger has now slipped to fourth in the wage league - and he's not happy about it.
According to Sport, "Ronaldo can't accept that his yearly earnings are inferior to the elite footballers he is competing against."
"He sends out threats, blackmail, becomes upset and fights over what he considers an injustice."
Ronaldo is absolutely convinced that he's the best player in the world so feels his paycheck should reflect that.
He moved to Real Madrid for £80m in 2009 and is widely regarded as one of the finest footballers of all-time.
On Friday night, he scored a stunning hat-trick in Portugal's World Cup opener against Spain and it's no surprise that he's the current favourite to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or.
