Triple H discusses the possibility of John Cena potentially competing on NXT

There's not a lot left for John Cena to accomplish in WWE. He's already captured 16 world titles, he's faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania and he's had some of the most memorable feuds throughout a career which cements his status as not only a first-ballot Hall of Famer, but arguably one of the greatest WWE stars of all time.

However, Cena is competing on a part-time basis, and that fire still does seem to be inside him. If there's one thing which does seem to excite him, though, it's the possibility of heading down to NXT and taking on some of the stars of the future.

During a recent appearance at MegaCon, Cena revealed in a Q&A session that he'd love to head down to NXT television to compete, while he singled out Velveteen Dream as an opponent he'd want to face ahead of Ricochet and Adam Cole, as he sees the former Tough Enough star as 'the one.'

Triple H seems to have caught wind of what Cena had said, and Alex McCarthy of GiveMeSport brought up Cena's comments when he caught up with The Game and Shawn Michaels ahead of the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament.

As expected, Triple H is open to the idea of Cena wrestling in NXT, and also claimed that a crossover pay-per-view between NXT stars and the main roster athletes is a possibility.

He jokingly said: "I can’t afford his pay on my NXT budget, I just really can’t seem to hit John Cena’s level of payoff, but we’ll work on it if he wants to take a pay cut.

“I think that there’s opportunity for anything. Vince taught both of us a long time ago never say never in this, if the opportunity is right. As we talked about yesterday, there’s different styles, there’s different feels to different brands and all of that, and they all have their different places.

"But crisscrossing all of that and having them be a part of each other at the same time – look, we’ve seen guys come down and work in NXT before, or move over and work with Vince. That’s not beyond the realm of possibility if someone wants to do it.”

“Look, if John Cena comes to me and goes ‘I have to do this at the next TakeOver with this person,’ I’m like ‘Alright, if I have to put you on there, I will."

The Heartbreak Kid chimed in by stating: "John’s the kind of guy, you could have John do it for free."

Fans have always fantasy booked how an NXT vs. WWE pay-per-view would be booked, and it's obvious Cena would be one of the first to throw his name into the mix with Velveteen Dream and EC3 both opponents he's named.

Cena is talking about NXT and Velveteen Dream; The Rock has praised Ricochet - that all just speaks for itself.
