Morocco are the first team to be eliminated from the 2018 World Cup.The African side actually played some of the best football seen in Russia during their two games vs Iran and Portugal, but just couldn't find the back of the net. They mustered 16 shots on Rui Patricio's goal during their 1-0 loss to Portugal earlier today, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winner after just four minutes - his fourth of the tournament. There was a bit of controversy in the build-up to the game surrounding Morocco's Nordin Amrabat, with the former Watford winger picking up a concussion in the loss to Iran.He wasn't expected to play, so it was a shock when he was named in the starting XI and was seen sporting a Petr Cech-style scrum cap - which would actually offer no protection for a concussion.

Nevertheless, Amrabat turned in an unbelievable performance out on the right, with Raphael Guerreiro simply unable to deal with him.

And Amrabat revealed something quite remarkable that Pepe told him during the course of the game about the referee.

After the final whistle, the Moroccan star was interviewed by Dutch TV and revealed the bizarre story to the world.

Talking about the refereeing decisions in the game, he said: "I do not know what he [the referee] is used to, but he was very impressed by Cristiano Ronaldo, and I hear from Pepe that he asked in the first half if he should have his shirt, what are we talking about? at the World Cup, it's not a circus here."

The referee asked for Ronaldo's shirt? Ridiculous.

While we obviously have no video evidence of the interaction, it seems to bizarre of a story for Amrabat to simply make up.

Surely there will have to be some response from the Portuguese camp in due course, or maybe even one from Pepe or Ronaldo?
