A busy summer was always to be expected at Arsenal following Arsene Wenger's departure and Unai Emery's arrival as his replacement.

Since taking the reigns last month, Emery has signed veteran right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Further signings could also be on the horizon. According to various sources, Sampdoria and Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira is on his way to the Emirates Stadium in a £26m move.

Torreira was quizzed about joining Arsenal recently but he insisted that while Arsenal are a big club, he isn't focused on his future at the moment.

"No I don't know what is happening because the most important thing right now is the national team and our progress at the World Cup," said the 22-year-old.

"Yes I know Arsenal is a good team - one of the biggest in the world - but right now I am wearing the shirt of my country and my focus is the national team."

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also said to be joining Arsenal next month, though it's clear from Emery's transfer activity that he wants to reinforce his midfield.

That seems even more the case now that Jack Wilshere has confirmed he's leaving, so it's only natural that Arsenal are now being linked with another central player - Ever Banega.

Reports in Spain, per the Mirror, claim Arsenal and Banega are both interested in each other and talks are underway over a £12m switch.

At such a low price the Argentine would represent good business for Arsenal, who are working to a strict budget and need more steel in midfield.

So what do Arsenal fans make of the potential move? Well, as you can see by the small collection of tweets below, they're completely divided.

While some think Banega is the solid, no-nonsense midfielder they need, others reckon they already have enough central players.

There's certainly an argument to be made that Arsenal don't need another midfielder, but Banega is renowned for his combative style of play and the Gunners need some of that bite.

And as mentioned, £12m isn't much at all for a top-class player.
