World number 21 Nick Kyrgios was the opponent for Andy Murray’s comeback match as the three-time Grand Slam champion ended a lay-off lasting almost a year at the Fever-Tree Championships on Tuesday, better known as Queen's.

Although Murray impressed throughout, Kyrgios emerged the 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 winner, and managed to steal much of the attention away from the returning Brit with his bizarre demeanour on court.

In the first set, Kyrgios hit two unnecessary tweeners in the same point and looked uninterested as he hit many unforced errors. Nothing new there then.

Unfortunately, tennis fans have grown used to seeing Kyrgios play act during matches, and once again accusations were thrown his way.

Andrew Castle of BBC Sport was commentating on the match and was extremely critical of the young Australian’s attitude.

“This is a tank from Kyrgios," he said.

"He’s just hitting the ball as hard as he can. You can’t say you are injured when serving 138mph. You are fine physically, it doesn’t suit Kyrgios to play second fiddle to anyone. This match was all about Murray until about 10 minutes ago and now it’s all about Kyrgios.

“If Kyrgios had won one of the first couple of Murray serves and taken his opportunities, I don’t think he’d be doing it.

"I’ve watched tennis long enough and I’m allowed to have a personal judgement. Sometimes he’s unbearable and sometimes we love him, but that’s why you watch him,” concluded Castle.

There is no questioning the undeniable talent that exudes from Kyrgios, but it is his lack of consistent effort that has left him in troubled waters with tennis fans around the world.

Many believe that the Australian does not enjoy playing the sport and that he has simply been blessed with god-given ability.

Others have expressed concerns that he doesn’t have the mental toughness to adapt and cope with the mental rigours of being on tour.

Although he's entertaining, you do have to question his attitude at the best of times.
