In two weeks time, one of the biggest UFC fights of the year will take place as Stipe Miocic will defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship against the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier in a superfight at UFC 226 on July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This fight was booked after both men successfully defended their respective titles at UFC 220 back in January this year. This will be the third time in UFC history that champions in different divisions will fight for the same title, following UFC 94 and UFC 205.Cormier would become only the second fighter to be champion in two divisions simultaneously (after Conor McGregor who won the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 205 when he was the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion) if he wins at UFC 226.The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion would also become the fifth overall fighter to win a title in different divisions.

G.O.A.T?

With this in mind, some UFC fans are saying that if DC manages to defeat Stipe at UFC 226 and win the UFC Heavyweight Championship, he should be considered the Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T).

When he was asked about this prospect, Cormier said the following:

"I'm fighting these dudes at 39 years old and still getting my hand raised. So yes, put me in the conversation."

Bones Disagrees

It's unsurprising to hear that one UFC fighter doesn't believe DC should be considered the G.O.A.T if he beats Miocic at UFC 226, and that is Cormier's rival, Jon Jones.

Jones said over a series of tweets: “What have you done for me lately? Let’s just be real and stop asking this question.

"If he’s in the conversation does that make me the motherf***ing man?

"Man I can’t wait to get my job back and slap somebody.”

Cormier only loss on his professional MMA record was to Jones at UFC 182 back in January 2015. Bones also defeated DC by third-round TKO in the main event of UFC 214 in July 2017.

However, it was revealed after the fight that Jones tested positive for Turinabol and, as a result of that failed drug test, Jones was stripped of the UFC Light Heavyweight title and was removed from the official UFC rankings.

The promotion then reinstated Cormier as the champion and turned the fight into a no contest.

Jones is still suspended by the USADA for that failed drug test from UFC 214, and he is yet to be given a date for his hearing.
