It's finally happened - Emre Can has joined Juventus from Liverpool on a free transfer.

Can has been linked with a move to the Old Lady since the start of 2018 and for various reasons the German saw it best to swap Merseyside for Turin.

As is the case with most players nowadays, one of the reasons is money. Can wanted a huge signing on fee to stay at Liverpool but Jurgen Klopp said no.

Juventus, on the other hand, have paid him an eye-watering £14 million signing on fee, so he got his wish in the end.

Another reason is where Klopp wanted to play Can, whose favoured position is just in front of the defence where Jordan Henderson currently resides.

But Klopp saw the 24-year-old more as a No.8 due to his athleticism, so naturally that caused a disagreement.

Can's departure is ultimately for the best and it's unlikely that Liverpool will miss him due to the signings they've made this summer.

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK

In the knowledge Can was likely to leave, Liverpool are set to welcome both Fabinho and Naby Keita on July 1.

It's a sad day nonetheless for Liverpool fans who grew to love Can for his passion and talent during his four years at the club.

And he's now thanked them for their continued support in a heartwarming Instagram post, which you can see below.

In the video, Can says: "Hello, it's Emre. Today is the first day of a new chapter in my life.

"I'd like to say thank you to all the people in Liverpool, to my coaches, to the staff, to the staff behind the staff, to the supporters, to everyone. I will always think back with a smile.

"One piece of my heart will always be in Liverpool. It was a big, big honour for me to play for Liverpool. I hope to see you one day again. Take care, your Emre."

Class. Can wouldn't be the player he is today without the support he's received from Liverpool and the fans and he clearly appreciates it.
