It was perhaps the worst-kept secret in WWE, but the company confirmed last week that Australia is getting a special event of their own.

Following in the footsteps of the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the WWE will be looking to sell out the 100,000 MCG stadium in Melbourne and one huge match has already been announced.

SUPER SHOW-DOWN

For the final time ever, Triple H battles The Undertaker as the latter edges closer to retirement in what could be his last year of in-ring competition.

Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Ronda Rousey are just three of the many massive names that have been announced for this super show which is set to take place in October.

Notably, Brock Lesnar and any discussion of the Universal Championship have been currently left out by both Vince McMahon and Triple H.

One legendary name that has been announced for the show is Shawn Michaels, as the WWE is planning to go all-out again like they did in the Middle East by having the biggest stars and epic matches taking place.

Naturally, with there being increased talk of The Heartbreak Kid making a WWE return and having one more match, this announcement has resulted in many believing that he's going to step into the ring again.

DREAM MATCH?

According to the Wrestling Observer, Michaels is planned to return to the ring, but not to have a match so fans shouldn't get their hopes up too much.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer has claimed that there has been some talk backstage about Michaels serving as a special guest referee on one of the matches taking place on the super card.

It's thought to be a similar role to his recent stint as a referee, where he officiated a match between Adam Cole and Drew McIntyre at an NXT live event in San Antonio, Texas last year.

That doesn't necessarily mean he won't get physical, though.

Last year, Kyle O'Reilly ate a Sweet Chin Music, so perhaps Michaels might still entertain the fans in some capacity, even if he's donning a referee shirt.

Michaels has gone back and forth in recent weeks regarding a comeback, where he's stated that the likes of AJ Styles and Johnny Gargano would have been perfect opponents when he was in his prime.

However, he has since admitted that the only realistic match he could return for is a tag team match with Triple H as D-Generation X, against over 40 other superstars he'd love to compete against.

Considering he's already been the referee for Triple H and The Deadman at WrestleMania, perhaps this will be the contest where the Showstopper will slot in.

Never say never in wrestling, however.
