The 2018 World Cup potentially represents a huge moment in Marcus Rashford's career.

The Manchester United forward was named on the bench for England's 2-1 win over Tunisia on Monday night, but he continues to do battle with Raheem Sterling for a spot in the Three Lions' starting XI.

It could be said that there's more riding on what happens in Russia for the 20-year-old than most.

Having scored 13 goals in all competitions - and assisted another six - Rashford has had a decent season in spite of his well-documented struggles under Jose Mourinho.

Starting just 17 Premier League games and being used as a substitute more often than not in the Champions League, speculation has been rife that the starlet may seek a move away from Old Trafford in order to play more regularly.

That would be hugely disappointing for many United fans who have seen their academy graduate come up through the ranks at his boyhood club.

However, while Mourinho is so often lambasted for wasting Rashford's talent, Slaven Bilic has actually offered a unique insight into the situation after talking to the England international.

The former West Ham manager was explaining his view on Rashford on the BBC's World Cup coverage, brought to our attention by 101GreatGoals.

Bilic has made a solid point

“We had a small talk about whether he should leave Manchester United," Bilic said.

“And I said ‘no way, you are not leaving United at that age and you are playing.’

“He doesn’t start every game, but he has been involved in every competition – maybe he even played too many games.

“He is playing under Mourinho for the biggest clubs in the world – why would you leave? Prove yourself there.”

That's a very different interpretation to that held by many United fans.

It's rarely been suggested that Rashford is playing *too* much, although that would explain why he didn't look all that fresh this season.

If he were to force his way into the team more regularly at the Theatre of Dreams, that would be much more impressive than if he were to cut his losses and head to a so-called lesser club.

Due to Rashford's affiliation with United, it's hard to imagine him pushing for a move unless it was absolutely necessary.
