In a World Cup that's been plagued by too many boring games to count, Friday evening served up a rather interesting clash between Serbia and Switzerland.Serbia broke the deadlock through Aleksandar Mitrovic with just five minutes played and went into the break with their lead intact. But a resurgent Switzerland quickly equalised through Granit Xhaka's screamer. In the 52nd minute, the Arsenal man latched on to a loose ball and crashed home a long-range strike.Switzerland dominated from thereon out and in the 90th minute they grabbed all three points thanks to star man Xherdan Shaqiri.Mario Gavranovic's through ball put the Stoke City man one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he made no mistake in applying a smart finish.Game over. It was no less than Switzerland deserved and they have Shaqiri to thank for the way they recovered from 1-0 down.He was instrumental throughout the 90 minutes and came agonisingly close to scoring on a number of occasions, especially in the 58th minute when he smashed the woodwork.

XHERDAN EXHILARATES

Shaqiri was so good against Serbia that Liverpool fans were raving about him on social media amid rumours of a £12m move to Anfield.

It's unlikely that anything will be decided until after the World Cup but Kopites were in agreement that the 26-year-old would be a decent signing.

Fast, strong and skilful, Shaqiri is exactly the kind of player Liverpool need as back-up to their current front three.

Oh, and he's an absolute unit.

As mentioned Shaqiri celebrated his winner by removing his shirt and it's safe to say Liverpool fans were taken aback by the Swiss' physique. They now want to sign him just because.

Look at the size of those traps. Shaqiri has previously been accused of being fat but he proved against Serbia that that's far from the case. Here's how Liverpool fans reacted.

"SHAQIRI IS A UNIT"
