During his 15 years in the NBA, Dwyane Wade has been a part of some great teams, and he has also played against some brilliant teams as well.

These days, the Golden State Warriors are considered the best team in the NBA today after winning back-to-back NBA Championship as well as appearing in each of the past four Finals series.

This Warriors team is up there with some of the greatest NBA teams of all-time including the 1990s Chicago Bulls, 1980s Boston Celtics, and Wade's own early 2010s Miami Heat.

However, the greatest team which the 36-year-old has ever played against is not today's Golden State team, but they're definitely worthy of the title.

2000s Spurs

Speaking to Joel Weber of Bloomberg, Wade revealed that the greatest team he has ever played against is the San Antonio Spurs of the 2000s and early 2010s.

The Heat star added that the reason behind this is because they challenged him both on the court and in his mind.

He said: "The greatest team I’ve ever played against was probably the San Antonio Spurs, with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili.

"They challenged you in so many ways with the mental part of the game. It goes way beyond basketball.

Wade made sure to praise the current back-to-back champions as well and give them credit where credit is due.

He said: "Golden State does that. They challenge you mentally as well as physically. And they have more talent than everybody, as well.

"It’s going to take some special kind of medicine to put a team together to get them."

Today's Warriors are an excellent team, but they might have had a tough time of defeating the San Antonio team Wade is referring to.

The Spurs were one of the most dominant teams in the Western Conference during the 2000s and early 2010s.

They made five NBA Finals appearances between 2003 and 2014, winning the NBA title on four of those occasions (2003, 2005, 2007, 2014).

Due to the age of the current squad, and the potential departure of Kawhi Leonard, it might be some time before we see the Spurs return to their former glory days.

However, history can never be forgotten. The Spurs team of the 2000s and early 2010s deserves to go down as one of the greats.
