Anthony Joshua v Deontay Wilder is the fight the world wants to happen.

Sadly, contract negotiations have been painfully slow in the past few months with both camps nailing their flag to their respective masts and refusing to budge.

It looked as though some progress had finally been made, however, after it was revealed that the Wilder camp had conceded to the fight being held in the United Kingdom.

However, Wilder is still to sign on the dotted line leading to fears that reports that a deal was on the brink of completion may have been somewhat premature.

Fans have had to make do with a myriad of verbal jibes from both sides as negotiations have rumbled on, with both combatants quick to seize any opportunity to berate their potential opponent.

Most of the noise came initially from the Wilder camp, as the American tried desperately to coax Joshua out and convince him to take the fight.

The incessant mouthing off eventually told and the camps set to work on working through what has become quite possibly the most complicated contract in many a decade.

The debate over who would win if terms should ever be agreed upon has been fierce, roping in all sorts of legends and experts of the sport.

Many, Mike Tyson included, believe Joshua would simply possess too much strength and power for Wilder, while others believe the American’s unpredictability could be exactly what is needed to best the Brit.

It will be a monumental match-up if these two finally do get their hands on each other but for now, the verbal warfare continues.

In a recent interview with Behind the Gloves on YouTube, Wilder was asked what he thought about Anthony Joshua’s attempts to trim down his freakishly large physique, and his comments won’t read too well in the UK.

“He better,” began Wilder.

“There’s so many things going on with that, all these accusations about steroids and stuff like that. No matter how many tests he says he’s taking in his country, because the country is going to hold him down.

“There is a lot of ways that you could go around that.”

There is no denying the fact the Joshua is a mammoth human being, but he may not take too kindly to suggestions that he cheated to get there.

Wilder needs to put his money where his mouth is eventually though, and what a night of boxing that could prove to be.

Make it happen boys.
