Title contender Kevin Lee has called for a fight against Georges St-Pierre.

It’s well known that Lee missed weight in his first attempt for his scheduled bout at UFC Atlantic City.

Lee weighed in at 157 pounds with only three minutes to spare in the two-hour window. This marked the first time that he had missed weight.

If you recall, at the UFC 216 PPV (pay-per-view) event in Las Vegas, Nevada in October of 2016, Lee initially missed weight for his interim lightweight title bout against Tony Ferguson, which served as the main event of the show.

Lee came in one pound over the 155-pound limit and had to cut the last pound and had one hour to do it. He was able to do so despite him battling a staph infection.

As seen in the main event of UFC Atlantic City (April 21, 2018) at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on FOX Sports 1, Lee picked up a TKO win in the fifth round over Edson Barboza.

During a recent Q&A session for the UFC Singapore event, Lee expressed interest in fight Georges St-Pierre at 165lbs for the inaugural title (transcript courtesy of The Straits Times).

It should be noted that this would make history as the UFC currently does not have a title at this weight class and they would have to create one in order for this to happen.

“I think me and Georges for the 165lb title is the one that makes the most sense. You do Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, the reigning lightweight champion, in October, you do me and Georges in November, at Madison Square Garden. And maybe you do Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington to figure out the 170lbs division.”

GSP returned to competition in November after four years away from the sport to win the middleweight title with a submission victory in the third round over Michael Bisping at UFC 217.

However, shortly after the fight, he had to vacate the title as he is dealing with colitis. The biggest question this year is if GSP will fight again and if that does actually happen, who would the UFC book him against.

A few weeks ago, Dana White came out and stated that they had plans for GSP to fight Nate Diaz at the upcoming UFC 227 pay-per-view event. Although the fight did not make much sense, the promotion is in need for super fights and this one would deliver as a PPV draw.

However, the former UFC champion has already come out and shot down speculation of this fight happening.
