Manchester United finally announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Fred on Thursday.

The 25-year-old made the switch from Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of around £52 million, which could potentially rise to over £60 million, according to Sky Sports journalist Paul Gilmour.

That's a hefty outlay for a player who's played in just Brazil and Ukraine, and only played eight times for his country, but Jose Mourinho must have confidence he will fit the bill.

Speaking to the club's official website, Fred said on his arrival; “Manchester United is a huge club.

"When I was young, it was a name I used to hear and it was a name I used to see on computer games and I used to play with the team. For me, Manchester United means greatness.”

Fred hasn't made it onto the pitch for his country yet at the World Cup, an ankle injury meaning he didn't make it onto the bench for their 1-1 draw with Switzerland.

The Selecao struggled past Costa Rica in their second group game, it took until second half stoppage time to finally get past Keylor Navas in the opposition goal.

And their issues may mean manager Tite turns to the newly-recruited Red Devil for their final group match against Serbia

And United fans will certainly be buzzing when they see what Fred did in a training session in preparation for the aforementioned match.

In a shooting drill, Fred took the ball outside the area with his left-foot and unleashed a beauty of a shot into the top corner, beyond his now cross-city rival, Manchester City's Ederson.

Very impressive.

Fred isn't exactly a prolific player, he only netted 10 times in 101 league games in his time at Shakhtar, but his creativity may free up a role further forward for Paul Pogba in Mourinho's line-up.

The Old Trafford faithful have reacted to the video in their droves, with the hope he will produce that kind of quality on a regular basis.
