Germany kept their 2018 World Cup hopes alive on Saturday evening as they came from behind to seal a dramatic win over Sweden. The defending champions went into the Group F match knowing a loss would see them eliminated, and things took a turn for the worse in the 32nd-minute.Ola Toivonen gave the Swedes a surprise lead, however Marco Reus pulled one back three minutes after the interval and Kroos completed the comeback in stoppage time.Germany were very unbalanced in their loss to Mexico, and while Kroos retained his starting place, fellow midfielders Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil were dropped.Kroos had a pretty eventful game in Sochi besides his last-gasp winner, and what he said when interviewed after the match simply sums up the man.

Kroos scores stunning winner

With the score at 1-1 and his country really needing all three points, Kroos stepped up as they were awarded a 95th-minute free-kick just outside the box.

The Real Madrid star rolled the ball to Reus, who set it back to him and then the midfield maestro produced a wonderful bending strike to beat Robin Olsen.

What Kroos said after 2-1 Sweden win

In his post-match interview following the 2-1 win, Kroos could have been forgiven for solely talking about his 13th international goal and personal performance.

However, like a true champion, the classy German instead accepted full responsibility for Sweden's goal and praised his teammates' effort in the second-half.

When asked about how he performed against Sweden, the 28-year-old took the blame, telling German TV: "Of course, the first goal is down to me. No question."

Kroos, who has helped Real to three consecutive Champions Leagues, added: "But you've got to have the balls to play like that in the second half."

He wasn't afraid to have a dig at German fans either, saying: "I have a feeling some people in Germany would've been happy if we had gone out today. But we do not do it that easy!"

Kroos' role in Sweden's goal

Kroos' uncharacteristically poor pass to Ilkay Gundogan was intercepted and that led to Viktor Claesson finding eventual scorer Toivonen.

With Jerome Boateng out of position, Kroos was unable to stick with Toivonen's run and his shot deflected off Antonio Rudiger before looping over captain Manuel Neuer.

Having picked up a vital victory despite playing with ten men, Germany will look to build some much-needed momentum when they battle South Korea this Wednesday.
