Germany left it incredibly late but they picked up a massive 2-1 win over Sweden on Saturday to keep their World Cup hopes alive. The defending champions went behind to Ola Toivonen's first-half goal, but an effort from Marco Reus and a 95th-minute strike from Toni Kroos turned the match around.Victor Lindelof missed Sweden's 1-0 win over South Korea through illness but played the full game on his return to the side against the Germans.Given that the defender was the only Manchester United player involved in the Group F clash, their supporters kept a very close eye on his performance.Lindelof sparked plenty of talk amongst United fans on Twitter, and they're seemingly now convinced about what the club should, and shouldn't do, regarding him.

Lindelof's display v Germany

The 23-year-old kept a clean sheet in the first half with an assured display and dealt with the likes of Timo Werner and Thomas Muller in impressive fashion.

Obviously, he was unable to prevent either of Germany's goals in the second period, but Man Utd fans noticed his composure and calmness in possession.

What Man Utd fans are saying about Lindelof

Many Red Devils fans believe Lindelof may play his way into Jose Mourinho's starting XI during this World Cup and now don't want the club to sign Jerome Boateng.

The Bayern Munich man has been linked with a £50 million move to Old Trafford this week but those who watched Germany 2-1 Sweden think Lindelof is better.

As you can see, lots of Man United fans are asking Mourinho not to sign Boateng (and even Toby Alderweireld) when they already have Lindelof to partner Eric Bailly.

The Swede's good showing in Sochi, despite his country's loss, coupled with Boateng's poor defending and sending off seems to have made United fans' mind up.

The stylish centre-back made 29 appearances in his debut Man United season after joining from Benfica last summer and definitely improved after a shaky start.

Meanwhile, Boateng has been caught out positionally countless times so far this World Cup and was destroyed by Man Utd legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane on Saturday.

The big German played 31 times for Bayern in 2017-18, but at the age of 29, people are questioning whether his time as one of the world's best is coming to an end.
