Both CM Punk and Mike Jackson have been criticized for their performances in their fight at UFC 225 earlier this month since their bout came to its conclusion.
Jackson won the fight via decision after three rounds, but many believe he could have ended the fight a lot sooner and was simply toying with his opponent in the Octagon.
Punk, on the other hand, put up a valiant effort inside the Octagon. However, after two defeats, many don't want to see him fight in the UFC again for now.
They also believe he didn't warrant a place on the UFC main card due to his MMA skill level.
One fighter that has faced both Punk and Jackson is Mickey Gall. The Situation defeated Jackson in his first UFC fight in February 2016, while he also defeated Punk on his UFC debut in September that same year.
15 minutes too long
Gall spoke about Punk vs Jackson in a recent interview with MMA Fighting and gave his thoughts about their UFC 225 encounter.
The 26-year-old stated that he believes the fight went on for 15 minutes too long, and that he was disappointed in Jackson for not ending the fight sooner.
He said: “I was psyched for that fight. I thought they were going to lay it all on the line, really go for it and try and take each other out. I was disappointed in Michael Jackson.
"I didn’t think he had the urgency that he should’ve. I think he was a little lackadaisical. I think that fight went like 15 minutes too long. I was really disappointed in it to be honest.”
Gall also believes the fight shouldn't have been placed on the main card if that was the standard UFC fans would be receiving.
He said: “It’s not the caliber we’re used to watching, of fighter, it’s not the high level you should be seeing on the main card in the UFC.
"I get it, a lot of eyes and attention are brought by CM Punk. I benefited the most, probably, from the CM Punk thing. But I think it’s time – let the fighters fight. The real fighters.”
What is ahead for both Punk and Jackson in UFC remains to be seen, but neither of them will be fighting on the UFC main card again anytime soon.
