What an afternoon it was for England. After seeing Belgium follow up their victory over Panama with a 5-2 mauling over Tunisia, England knew a win over Panama would see them into the last 16 of the World Cup.And they didn’t just win. They absolutely destroyed Panama.Los Canaleros simply had no answer to England’s attack.John Stones started the rout after just eight minutes, and Panama imploded from then on in.Stones added another, while a brace of penalties from Harry Kane and a lovely strike from Jesse Lingard gave England an incredible five goal lead at half-time.The game eventually ended 6-1, with Kane netting his hat-trick in rather fortuitous circumstances and Felipe Baloy scoring a consolation for the Central American outfit. Many around the world would have been impressed with England’s first half display. They were 2-0 up and cruising after just 22 minutes. But one man who was not impressed was Guillem Balague. The Sky Sports pundit was critical of England’s display, and especially Jesse Lingard. He said: “Not enough play/quality in the inside channels, between the lines, for the style England want to play.“Lingard and Loftus-Cheek no comfortable there.“Very dangerous on set pieces and when they play in behind but possession football they want to play is wasteful.“Other players needed.”

Lingard scored just a few minutes later. Awkward.

That’s one tweet Balague will have wished he didn’t post.

Balague immediately got destroyed by England fans, with over 1,300 fans commenting and counting.

Even Gary Neville sent a laughing emoji in reaction to Balague’s criticism.

At least Balague saw the funny side, who tweeted in reply to Neville just before half-time that England were clearly good against Panama.

England are now safely into the last 16 of the tournament with one game in the group to spare.

They will now face Belgium on Thursday, with the winner of that game emerging as group winners.

The Three Lions will now face one of Colombia, Poland, Japan and Senegal in the last 16.

After that result and performance, surely no team will want to face England.
