The World Cup is really starting to come together quite nicely.Germany did what Germany do best after somehow managing to secure the latest of wins against Sweden after Belgium had really flexed some muscle against Tunisia.England gave their fans all sorts of feelings they had never experienced at major tournaments before after running riot to bash six past Panama, while Senegal and Japan played out a very entertaining 2-2 draw.Thankfully, there is yet to be a single goalless draw at the showpiece event in Russia and long may that continue. The final game on Sunday saw Poland come up against Colombia with both sides in desperate need of a win to keep their tournament alive.A fit-again James Rodriguez was once again in the Colombian starting line up having been relegated to the bench for his sides unexpected opening loss to Japan. The on-loan Bayern Munich midfielder absolutely ran the show as sleeping giant Colombia awoke dramatically from their slumber.James was sublime in midfield, dancing his way to the man of the match award while registering a goal and a simply outrageous assist to lead his team to a 3-0 rout of the Europeans. However, while James’ tournament looks to be just beginning, the same can not be said of his Bayern Munich teammate Robert Lewandowski. The Polish hitman has endured a thoroughly forgettable time of it out in Russia, failing to register a single goal as his side crashed out after just two games.Having won the Bundesliga Golden Boot, Polish fans would have been looking to the deadly forward to inspire his side to escape what is admittedly one of the toughest groups at the World Cup.Sadly, Lewandowski simply could not make any kind of impression on the tournament and will head back to Bayern licking some pretty substantial wounds.

Lewandowski’s Tweet to James

As if things were not bad enough, a past Tweet has emerged that might just make Lewandowski cringe all over.

After Poland were drawn alongside Colombia in December, Lewandowski was quick to Tweet teammate James to let him know what he thought of the draw.

Oh dear.

Looks a bit silly now doesn’t it?

While it might have been tongue in cheek from the Pole at the time, there is no denying the fact that James playing one of the games of his life, while he himself was largely invisible, will really hurt.

Just another example of why you should think before you tweet.

Tray tables up, Robert.
