It was quite a weekend to be an English sports fan.Australia were dispatched in the cricket, South Africa in the rugby, Lewis Hamilton took the chequered flag in France, and to top it all off Harry Kane and co were simply sublime against Panama over in Russia. The Three Lions smashed six goals past the hapless South Americans and in truth, it could quite easily have been more.A Harry Kane hat-trick and an unlikely double from defender John Stones saw Gareth Southgate’s men cruise to a frightfully easy win, securing their spot in the next round of the tournament.England fans were on cloud nine in the aftermath of the rout and who could blame them. Seeing an England side run riot in such a way at a major tournament has been a rare sight indeed and so fans made sure to revel in the moment.Hope is really starting to rise after an impressive start to the tournament for England with many a fan and footballing expert alike daring to dream that something special could be on the cards. If Kane can continue his mesmeric form upfront, who knows what could be possible for this talented side?

Roy Keane brings some perspective

However, Roy Keane, always the grump, was not over-awed by the England performance in quite the manner his fellow pundits were.

Working for the BBC alongside Slaven Bilic, Gary Neville and Ian Wright, Keane was blunt when giving his opinion, seemingly keen to bring the whole nation back down to earth.

Watch what he had to say below:

Roy Keane at his best folks and fans loved it.

While Keane had the studio in hysterics, it is hard to argure with his point.

There is still a long way to go in this World Cup, and England will have far tougher tests ahead.

But for now, it’s probably ok to dream of football coming home.

I mean, it has to, doesn’t it?
