Ever since the emphatic win by Anthony Joshua over Joseph Parker in late March this year, it was speculated that AJ would be squaring up against Deontay Wilder for another massive unification fight in the heavyweight division.

Nearly three months have passed, yet there is no clarity in the situation as the boxing faithful remain in the dark whether they will be able to witness the highly anticipated showdown at some point in 2018.

Although, the fighters are willing to face off each other, negotiations and discussions for the terms of the bout continue to hold up proceedings.

As both camps continue the blame game for the reluctance to conclude the deal, Eddie Hearn has made a remarkable statement, giving an insight of the current scenario.

The Matchroom boxing chief has urged Wilder to ‘stick to facts’ as the WBC champion questioned why the contract hasn’t been signed yet.

Speaking on the issue, Hearn said: “Let's just stick to facts. We made them an offer firstly, they didn't even reply," as per Sky Sports.

“They made us an offer, we asked to see a contract, they refused to send one. We made them another offer, after nearly four weeks they accepted and asked for a contract and we sent them one.

“If they want the fight they will sign it.”

The 39-year-old Brit further added if Wilder actually wants to fight Joshua is a question that needs to be addressed first.

“I can't quite make out whether people are lying to Deontay about the negotiations or he is just completely deluded,” Hearn continued.

“I saw an interview with him yesterday saying he is actually two people, Deontay Wilder and The Bronze Bomber so I'm siding with deluded. It's not complicated - we have set out the terms of the deal, we put it in a contract and sent it to him.

“He has now had the contract a week. We are getting calls from the WBA on a daily basis asking what's happening, there is absolutely zero urgency from Deontay and his team other than posting silly Instagram videos.

“The proof is in the resumes and at this stage I believe Deontay and his team do not want this fight.”

The boxing promoter disclosed that WBA are in frequent contact with him regarding the situation and the mandatory title defence against Alexander Povetkin.

The Russian star is being considered as the alternative to the American ace as AJ pushes for a September date for a potential bout.

If the Povetkin fight comes to fruition, it is most likely Joshua would take on Wilder early in 2019.
