In the midst of a career year, DeMarcus Cousins' season cruelly came to an end in January as he suffered a torn Achilles injury. His outstanding form was even more poignant as he's heading into unrestricted free agency this summer and would've commanded a max contract. But as he recovers from a potentially career-threatening injury, teams may be sceptical about giving him a big deal.

Doubts

It may take a player of his size longer to get back to full fitness from an Achilles tear and it could have an impact on him long-term.

But with a recent video posted on Twitter, the center showed that he's working tirelessly to get back healthy and back at the level he was playing at before he went down.

In a 45-second clip titled ‘The Resurgence’, Cousins looks to be well on the way to making a full recovery as he shared an intense workout with his followers.

The 28-year-old added the caption “help is on the way”, which could be a message for the New Orleans Pelicans as he was unable to offer his services during their playoff run, which was eventually ended by the Golden State Warriors in the second round.

It's unclear when the former Sacramento Kings man will be able to return to the court but over the next couple of weeks, it'll be important for him to discover where he'll be playing next season.

The Pelicans have already made it clear that they're interested in re-signing the big man and are confident that he can fully recover from his injury.

However, general manager Dell Demps did cast some doubt about it as he stated that he'd like to bring Cousins back "in a perfect world".

That would indicate that the franchise may be hoping that the player accepts less than the max to continue playing alongside Anthony Davis.

The duo formed one of the best frontcourt partnerships in NBA history and were on course to become the first big man pair to average 25 points and 10 rebounds.

His first choice would appear to be a return to NOLA to resume his devastating tandem with AD as their historic campaign was cut short.

But as well as New Orleans, the Dallas Mavericks have serious interest in the All-Star and believe they have a "good chance" of landing him, according to a recent report by Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

As he's now on the comeback trail, 'Boogie' will have several suitors and will have a huge decision to make on his future when he hits free agency on July 1.
