Naby Keita is getting accustomed to life on Merseyside.Photographs emerged of the Liverpool signing in the city this week, keeping a low-profile but still finding time to sign autographs for fans.

It's approaching a year since Liverpool first announced the signing of the Guinea international and fans have been eagerly awaiting his arrival in the city. RB Leipzig insisted that Keita spent another season in Germany before completing his move with Liverpool failing to secure an early arrival in January. All the waiting and scouting of his performances in the Bundesliga can come to a close now, though, with his unveiling just six days away and his potential debut approaching shortly after.

Keita arrives on Merseyside

Liverpool will kick off their pre-season on July 7 in a friendly with Chester and it could give Kopites the first opportunity to see Keita in the famous red jersey.

Fans are rushing for tickets with a sell-out crowd of 4,300 expected at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

However, there is still plenty to decide before that day, even if the signing was confirmed back in 2017.

Keita makes exciting request

One of the most obvious calls regards Keita's squad number as fans eagerly await the chance to have his name printed on their replica shirts.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, the 23-year-old has already made his request.

Keita has asked the club if he can become the first player since Steven Gerrard's exit to wear the famous number eight jersey.

He wore the same number during his time with Leipzig and has used the numeral when writing his signature for Liverpool supporters.

With the number available for use, it seems likely that Liverpool will give him the green light and Keita will sport the historic jersey next season.

Liverpool fans react on Twitter

Unsurprisingly, too, it has sparked excitement amongst supporters who have already grown fond of the midfielder. Check out the reaction:

It seems there are a million reasons to feel excited about Keita right now.

Fans will simply have to hope that the iconic shirt number and hefty price tag doesn't weight down on him at Anfield.

However, Kopites have seen plenty from his performances last season to suggest he'll take to Premier League football like a duck to water.

Alongside the likes of Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, he looks an inspired addition to Jurgen Klopp's exciting side.

It won't be long until Keita is officially unveiled at the club with his squad number confirmed and for the fans, it can't come any sooner.
