Jack Wilshere will be taking extreme care when it comes to choosing his next club. The English midfielder ended his 17-year association with Arsenal last week after being told by Unai Emery he would not be a guaranteed starter. But where will he go next?Wilshere claimed in an emotional statement last week he is working tirelessly to be in peak condition for the new season.“I’m feeling fit, sharp and strong and will be working tirelessly to ensure I am in peak condition ahead of the new season,” he said.“I’ll now be taking the time necessary to consider my options before deciding on the next stage of my career.A number of clubs have shown interest in signing the 26-year-old, including West Ham and Juventus.Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere's former teammate at Arsenal, has now had his say on his departure, and he's caused quite a stir by claiming he is good enough to play for any club in the world.“I’ve got every respect for Wilshere, he’s a fantastic footballer, one of the best I’ve played with,” he said in an interview with talkSPORT.“I wish him all the very best for whatever he does next, and I have every faith that he will make it work and he’ll do well.“He’s a top, top player, he can play at any team in the world, he’s got that sort of ability. He’s played for Arsenal all his life – they are a massive club and he’s always shown he has the ability to play there.“He’s a top player and he can definitely play at the highest level, wherever that may be.”Any team in the world? We know you're pals, Alex, but this is taking things a little too far.Unfortunately for Wilshere, the last few years have proven otherwise. He was shipped out on loan by Arsene Wenger to Bournemouth in the 2016/2017 season.Although he featured regularly for Wenger's side last campaign, he failed to impress on many occasions. In fact, he finished the Premier League season with just one goal and three assists; hardly a great tally. Many on Twitter expressed their disbelief at Oxlade-Chamberlain's comments.

Oxlade-Chamberlain added he recognised Wilshere's decision to leave was a hard one.

“Jack is Arsenal through and through, he loved the club and the fans loved him,” he stated.

“It’s obviously a very difficult moment for him to make that decision, and I was in a similar position when I had to make the decision to leave, it’s never easy.

“Arsenal is a fantastic club. It’s one of those clubs where it’s an honour to play there.

“Jack was there longer than me and he had even more of a connection after coming through the academy, so it’s tough to see and it’s sad for Arsenal, but Jack has to make the best decision for his career.”
