Isco responds

Just hours after the article was published online, the 26-year-old midfielder took to social media to respond to the El Pais article.

"Diego Torres, you are very, very bad," wrote Isco.

Isco definitely isn't happy - and Spanish supporters will hope to see him prove his critics wrong in the knockout rounds.

The 23-man squad need to come together pronto if they intend to replicate their 2010 World Cup success.

It's not the first time Isco has angrily responded to Spanish media on Twitter - he hit out at AS after they claimed he refused to warm up in the El Clasico.

Isco admitted that the players wanted to feel "differently" after beating Morocco and urged Spain to cut out mistakes.

“It’s going to be a tough game, we’re playing the hosts, the entire country will be behind them. They play excellent football,” said Isco, as per Channel News Asia.

“We played a friendly against them before the World Cup, we can’t make any mistakes.”

The Real Madrid star added: “We’re happy we’ve finished top of the group, that’s what we wanted.

"Maybe we wanted to feel differently after the match but we’re happy to go on. Now we are facing the moment of truth.

“I have complete faith in this team.”
