Former world champion Tyson Fury has made a bold claim by stating that the Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua fight collapsed as a result of promoter Eddie Hearn.

The heavily anticipated fight was announced as being cancelled earlier this week as the Brit confirmed he would focus on fighting Alexander Povetkin.

Having already been offered a staggering $50m deal to fight Wilder in USA, Joshua opted to negotiate a UK deal, but Hearn sent a contract missing key pieces of information such as a date and venue.

Added to that, Wilder revealed that a rematch clause was only inserted for Joshua, thus leaving 'The Bronze Bomber' high and dry if he lost his WBC belt.

And Fury, who is one fight into his boxing comeback following a 31-month absence, commented on the ongoing events ahead of his return to action in Belfast on August 18.

"It’s a very complicated situation, or at least they’re trying to make it that way," said Fury.

"Joshua and his team have been offered $50million, which is about £38m. A huge offer to fight anybody. You (could) offer (Joshua) any money to fight Wilder (but) they’re afraid of him.

"Wilder is all wrong for Joshua and Eddie Hearn knows that. I think it’ll happen, but Joshua will have to a couple more fights to make a few quid while he can then he’ll (Eddie Hearn) do the fight."

While neither Joshua nor Hearn are yet to comment, Wilder provided his side of the story on Tuesday.

"It was simple, the two things were simple. How can you send a contract to anybody when you don’t have no date on there?

"Nor do you have a venue up in there. He’s sending the contract saying ‘Just sign it’.

"Another thing that was up in there was talking about if I beat Joshua he gets a rematch, but if he beats me then it’s up to him to decide if there was a rematch.

"Nah, it’s either going to (be a rematch clause for both] or none at all. There is going to a rematch or no rematch at all. It’s crazy. ‘How you going to send a contract like that?

"It was simple things that they could not answer. It ain’t that they couldn’t, it’s that they wouldn’t. They didn’t want to because they don’t want this fight."
