Ever since Unai Emery was appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor at Arsenal, fans have been extremely excited to see what fresh faces the ex-PSG manager would bring to North London.

Emery has already began with his rebuild of a squad that has arguably been underachieving for a while now.

Experienced Swiss right-back Stephane Lichtsteiner has arrived on a free from Italian champions Juventus, to provide some competition for Hector Bellerin.

He was followed by Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper and Germany international Bernd Leno, who joined the Gunners for a reported £19 million.

The pair are set to be joined by Sampdoria and Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira and Borussia Dortmund's Greek centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos, if reports are to be believed, which would take Emery's spending to around £60 million.

A fresh defensive target has emerged though as the Spaniard looks to further bolster a leaky backline that conceded 51 Premier League goals last season - the most out of the top seven teams in the league.

The man in question is Junior Firpo, a left-back who plies his trade for La Liga side Real Betis.

As per Spanish publication AS, the Gunners have registered an interest in the 21-year-old Dominican, who only made his debut for the Betis first-team in February.

Firpo was a mainstay in the 'B' team for three years before getting the call-up, and has clearly impressed potential suitors to be linked with such a move.

And with an apparent release clause of £22 million, Arsenal's director of football Raul Sanllehi could be extremely tempted to meet it with Firpo's best years firmly ahead of him.

There's every chance that if Firpo arrives at the Emirates Stadium, a player leaves, and one who failed to impress that the Dominican could replace is Sead Kolasinac.

Signed on a free transfer from Schalke last summer, the Bosnian full-back made 27 league appearances, but seemed much better going forward than he did defending against tricky wingers, where he looked uncomfortable at times.

However, some much-needed competition could spark a revival from Kolasinac, who quite clearly has the talent considering he was named in the Bundesliga team of the season the season before his arrival in England.

If Firpo does end up arriving at Arsenal though in addition to the two already signed and the duo rumoured to be signing any-time soon, the future really does look bright under Emery.
