Macclesfield midfielder Richard Butcher has been ruled out for three to four weeks with medial ligament damage.

Butcher, who joined the Silkmen from Lincoln in the summer following an initial spell on loan at Moss Rose last year, limped out of Saturday's defeat against Shrewsbury.

"It's disappointing news as Butch is a key player for us," Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson told the club's official website.

"But we've got several options in the middle of the park and, depending on what formation we decide to go with for the Accrington game, it's an opportunity for someone to come in and stake their claim.

"I'm being told that it could be at best three to four weeks before we get him back."
