Tottenham are reportedly set to join the race to sign Liverpool target Ola Toivonen.
Roy Hodgson and assistant Sammy Lee have been closely monitoring the progress of the 24-year-old, and recently went to watch him play three times in the space of a week.
Lee witnessed the striker net five times in two games for PSV Eindhoven, while Hodgson was in Rasunda to watch him score for Sweden in a friendly against Scotland.
Earlier this month, reports had suggested that the Reds were prepared to table a bid of £5 million for the ex-Malmo centre-forward.
But, with Sky Sports now reporting that Spurs are also interested in the marksman, PSV are understood to be holding out for at least £10 million.
Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire add some extra potency to his frontline, and he is believed to have identified Toivonen as the man to help Spurs maintain their place in the top four of the Premier League.
Sources in Holland are now speculating that initial contact between PSV and Spurs has already been made, and that a deal could be finalised before the transfer window slams shut.
Redknapp has also been linked with summer moves for Uruguay hotshot Luis Suarez and Brazil talisman Luis Fabiano.
