An overhaul of Arsenal's squad was always to be expected this summer following the appointment of Unai Emery as manager. And it would appear that process has well and truly begun. Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker are both set to leave on July 1, though Mertesacker will be staying on as Academy manager.Jack Wilshere has also been told he can leave and will be available to clubs on a free transfer this time next week. The Englishman's imminent departure in particular shows that Emery means business and wants to build a squad to his liking in north London.Nine other players are due to follow the aforementioned trio out of the Emirates Stadium, with Arsenal releasing a statement earlier today to confirm the names."It is the day when we bid farewell to the players whose contracts with us expire," the statement read. "The following players are leaving Arsenal Football Club on June 30, 2018."Marc Bola, Santi Cazorla, Alex Crean, Vlad Dragomir, Aaron Eyoma, Yassin Fortune, Ryan Huddart, Chiori Johnson, Hugo Keto, Per Mertesacker, Tafari Moore and Jack Wilshere."

OUT WITH THE OLD...

Emery will have his reasons for releasing each of the 12 players, but one decision Arsenal fans can't get their heads around is allowing Vlad Dragomir to leave.

Dragomir, 19, is a Romanian wonderkid who joined Arsenal in 2015 and plays as a centre-attacking midfielder. He's seen by the club's fans as the heir to Mesut Ozil's throne.

But now his time at the Gunners is up and Arsenal fans all seem very confused, with some even labelling the decision a "disgrace".

Arsenal fans' frustrations are understandable given how talented Dragomir is, but it remains to be seen exactly why was released.

Rumour has it he was offered a new contract but turned it down, so it might not have been Emery's decision entirely.
