One of the longest active rivalries in the UFC today is between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.

Cormier and Jones' rivalry is well documented, as they've fought against each other inside the Octagon under the UFC twice. Both fights were for the UFC Light Heavyweight title with one of those fights being won by Bones.

The other initially finished as a win for Jones too, but it was later turned into a no contest due to him testing positive for clomiphene and letrozole. He has since been suspended and is awaiting a hearing on how long he is suspended for.

Cormier, on the other hand, is preparing for the biggest fight of his life, as he will be facing Stipe Miocic in a superfight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship on July 7 at UFC 226.

If he wins this fight, many have spoken about possibly considering DC as the MMA G.O.A.T. However, Jones has tweeted his disagreement with this statement, sending insults to Cormier such as 'who's your daddy' digs.

Who's your daddy

Some might not know that this 'who's your daddy' dig has a deeper meaning to it, as Cormier's father was murdered when he was eight years old. It's something which the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion finds very disrespectful.

He said on the insult, via MMAJunkie: “It’s kind of what he does. Before our very first fight there were some direct messages sent, and he said he was my daddy or some (expletive) like that.

"I guess fans, somebody told him something in reference to my father being murdered, so he had (UFC President) Dana (White) call me on three-way to apologize for saying anything like ‘I’m your daddy.’

"But, every time we argue, he goes back to ‘I’m your daddy’ or something like that. He didn’t mean to apologize. So there’s deeper meaning to ‘who’s your daddy?’

“There’s deeper meaning to the history and him going through that unnecessary step of having Dana call me on the phone so he could personally apologize for saying anything about my father when he just kind of goes back to it every time we start to argue.

"So there’s deeper meaning to most of the stuff that we say. So outside of saying anything about my wife, and also the thing about daddy. Look, the guy’s not a good guy, so why would a scumbag like that have any limits?”

At the end of the day, Cormier believes Jones keeps associating himself with him in order to keep himself relevant while he's suspended.

DC himself though is keeping himself very active and relevant as, if he beats Miocic on July 7, he will become the second fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously, the first being former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
