England are through to the last 16 of the World Cup and have a great chance of reaching the semi finals - and yet scepticism remains. It was all going so well before Wednesday evening. Gareth Southgate's men were cruising at the top of Group G having beaten Tunisia 2-1 and Panama 6-1.But then they lost 1-0 to Belgium and now doubts are beginning to creep in about whether the Three Lions have what it takes to beat Colombia.England started with a new-look XI against Belgium but that fact hasn't stopped fans from thinking history is going to repeat itself. Not since the 2006 World Cup in Germany have England reached the quarter-finals, when they were knocked out by Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal. In the two tournaments since, England have been humiliated by Germany in the last 16 (2010) and failed to progress out of the group stages (2014).Losing to Belgium on Wednesday has forced many people to doubt England's prospects and Southgate's leadership in Russia, which has completely confused Gary Neville.

IT'S COMING HOME... MAYBE

Neville has spoken the absolute truth this morning by saying there is no need for the negativity given England have such a good chance of going far in the World Cup.

"I don't buy into the sentiment that 'Gareth has opened himself up to more criticism if we lose to Colombia'. Why?" he wrote.

"The tone has changed this morning and [there] is no need for it to. It's the best opportunity we've had for 28 years to progress far in a World Cup. We should enjoy it!"

Spot on. Neville's tweet has racked up over 15,000 likes 2,500 retweets in two hours, so it's safe to say a lot of people agree with him.

Ex-Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand has even shown support for Neville and his claims, as you can see below.

Losing to Belgium wasn't ideal for confidence, but the fact is that England didn't play their strongest team and have a favourable route to the semi-finals. Stay positive.
