Will we ever see Lionel Messi at a World Cup again? The five-time Ballon d’Or winner initially retired from international football after Argentina lost the Copa America final against Chile in 2016.And after Argentina were dumped out of the World Cup, losing 4-3 to France in a thrilling match, there’s a fear he might do the same after this competition.Messi would ‘only’ be 34 at the next World Cup in Qatar so, when you consider Cristiano Ronaldo is tearing up this competition at the age of 33, there’s still a chance he will stick around. But you’ve got to feel sorry for him.Messi has carried the weight of an entire nation of his shoulders for far too long and he looked devastated after the match. He may have produced two assists - one of them inadvertently - but he struggled to impose himself on the last-16 clash against France. But Paul Pogba did his best to console him after the match.Pogba, who was brilliant in the French midfield during the thriller, went over and hugged the superstar at the final whistle.

It was class.

And football fans loved to see such a special moment between two world-class players.

While Messi will head home to contemplate his international future, Pogba will now be concentrate on a World Cup quarter-final against either Uruguay or Portugal.

They will clash on Saturday evening in Sochi to decide who will play France at the Nizhny Zovgorod Stadium on Friday afternoon.

One thing is for sure, that quarter-final surely won’t be as entertaining as the last-16 clash we’ve just watched.
