In 15 days time, the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh will host Extreme Rules as the WWE roster gets to go crazy for one night.

This kind of gimmick pay-per-view always excites wrestling fans - and next months show should be no different.

That's because there are a number of good matches that have already been announced for the card.

RUMOURED MATCHES

These include AJ Styles vs Rusev for the WWE Championship, Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt vs The B-Team for the RAW Tag Team titles and Carmella vs Asuka for the SmackDown Women's Championship.

The Bludgeon Brothers will also defend their SD Tag Team Championships against Team Hell No, while Nia Jax tries to win back the RAW Women's title against Alexa Bliss.

All of those matches are confirmed, but the expected main event of the PPV will no longer be happening.

WHAT WON'T BE HAPPENING

Until last Monday, a six-man number one contender's match for the Universal Championship was going to close the show.

However, on RAW, GM Kurt Angle explained that a "loophole" in Brock Lesnar's contract allowed him to call the match off.

Of course, this is all part of the storyline - it was actually Vince McMahon that decided to change the main event. What happens next though, still isn't clear.

But that's not the only match that fans may have expected to see at Extreme Rules that probably won't be happening there.

BAYLEY VS SASHA BANKS

WWE have been building towards a huge match between former best friends Bayley and Sasha Banks for a while now.

In fact, they should on course to meet at the next PPV - but if reports are to be believed, the company will be holding off their match until SummerSlam.

Normally, this isn't too strange, but according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, they're doing it for a very odd reason.

WHY THE MATCH MAY BE HELD UNTIL SUMMERSLAM

The website suggests that WWE could be holding off until August because it would give the pair the opportunity to battle at the Barclays Center in New York.

Why is this important? Well, it would be the same venue where Bayley and Sasha had the best match of their careers fighting over the NXT Women's Championship.

It would certainly be an odd decision to hold off until then for that reason - but if it produces a match on the same level as their 2015 NXT clash, then it will be well worth the wait.
