Arsenal fans have been keeping a keen eye on Lucas Torreira's performances in this World Cup.The Sampdoria midfielder caught the eye of Arsenal's new manager, Unai Emery, and reports suggest he will sign a deal in the near future. The transfer will see Arsenal part with £26 million for the Uruguayan midfielder.Torreira has been a regular in Uruguay's World Cup campaign so far, and he played another prominent role in their last-16 victory against Portugal.Uruguay eventually prevailed 2-1 thanks to a brace from Edinson Cavani. But one of Uruguay's standout performers was Torreira. He showed great energy in enthusiasm in midfield, and one moment in particular in the first half caught the attention of Arsenal fans. With the ball at the feet of Cristiano Ronaldo, it looks as if Portugal were about to catch Uruguay on the break. But Torreira came rushing back and he floored Ronaldo, putting their counter-attack to a halt.

Ronaldo went flying.

Although it was deemed as a foul, many Arsenal fans were happy to see the aggression to his game.

It's also impressive how a man 19cm shorter than Ronaldo can brush him off the ball in such a manner.

Arsenal have lacked an enforcer in the middle of midfield for some time, and many are commenting that his play style is exactly what the club needs.

Torreira also showed his commitment with an unbelievable tackle with his head in the second half.

Yes, with his head.

If Arsenal can get the deal over the line, it seems he could become a fan-favourite within no time at all.

Luis Suarez's opinion of the 22-year-old will only excite fans more.

Suarez revealed earlier this season that he was impressed with Torreira the first time they played each other in 2016.

"We played Sampdoria once," Suarez told Telemundo, per the Metro. "I was surprised by the young lad who had been in the middle of the park for the whole match.

"After that evening, I learned he was Uruguayan, and from that moment, I started to follow him a bit in Serie A.

"He surprised me, he’s improved a lot and been playing at a very high level.

"He came on the scene at a very young age, when it’s not at all easy to assert yourself, but he succeeded in performing at a high level."
