Roger Federer is the gift that keeps on giving. The defending Wimbledon champion was on Centre Court today to open his title defence and is favourite to win in his 20th consecutive Wimbledon appearance. After winning his opening match with ease, it was a lighthearted moment caught by cameras that won even more fans, if we all aren’t already. The current world number two, but largely considered the sport’s “G.O.A.T.”, is favoured to defend his title at the grass courts of SW19 once again. He eased past his opening round match-up against Dusan Lajovic, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 in an astonishing only 79 minutes of play.Despite it being only the opening round of the Championships, the magic of Centre Court wasn’t lost on the Swiss great.“It’s such a wonderful court. You feel like you’re walking out for a final. I was really able to enjoy it,” said Federer at the end of his straight-sets victory.Federer was in inspired form for his opening match and the extra motivation maybe down to the fact that all four of his children were watching him play for the first time.“I’m very happy to be playing in front of my children,” Federer said. “It doesn’t matter who else is in the stadium. Having four little people in there is a lot of fun.”

Indeed, the man sure knows how to melt people’s hearts, and he didn’t stop there.

After packing up his equipment and wrapping up his on-court interview, Federer was doing his customary post-match autograph signing when cameras caught a young girl with a sign saying, “Roger, can I have your headband please?”

After signing a few more autographs for other fans, Federer saw the sign and began to rummage through his bag in search of the coveted headband.

After finally locating the accessory, one of his trademarks, he gladly gave it to the girl, which earned him further applause from the fans, and a lot of appraisal online.

With Andy Murray withdrawing from the tournament due to injury, Roger just won a lot more British fans in this year’s tournament!
