Despite not fighting since 2016, Conor McGregor is still the most mentioned name in the UFC.

Part of that may be down to the fact that he's expected to make a return to the promotion very soon - but it could also be down to his behaviour outside the Octagon too.

MCGREGOR'S CONTROVERSY

Back in April, "Notorious" crashed a UFC 223 press event and attacked a bus full of fighters.

He was aiming to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov but missed his rival - and ended up landing himself in a lot trouble.

The Irishman is now facing three counts of assault charges and one count of criminal mischief, on top of being charged with menacing and reckless endangerment.

It's a far from ideal situation.

Still though, if he does make a UFC return later this year, he'll probably be treated like an MMA megastar that never left.

Unfortunately though, that kind of hospitality clearly only applies to McGregor himself - and no one else on his team, as his trainer John Kavanagh recently found out.

PRAY FOR UFC

Kavanagh, who runs the Straight Blast Gym MMA team - is preparing for this week's Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Finale event.

Two of his gym's fighters, Richie Smullen and Brad Katona, are competing in Las Vegas on Friday night - so their trainer has obviously traveled out to the US with them.

However, he's taken to social media to call out UFC over his arrangements, claiming that the company failed to cover his expenses and left him stranded at the airport.

Ouch. That's clearly not how the coach of the promotion's highest paid fighter most expects to be treated.

Although, if McGregor does make his UFC return, don't expect Kavanagh to have to worry about paying for his own flights, or sorting out a driver ever again.

CONOR'S POTENTIAL RETURN

He should be confident of seeing his top fighter back in the cage soon too - as there are a few potential opponents that want to take on McGregor.

The most obvious is lightweight champ Nurmagomedov, but more recently, a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz has been rumoured, so Conor really isn't short of options if he does make a comeback.
