With the number two pick in this year's draft, the Sacramento Kings had a difficult choice to make with many talented players available to select from.Eventually, they decided to opt for promising big man Marvin Bagley III.The Kings have extremely high hopes for the 19-year-old and believe he has the attributes to become a star in the NBA.

Announcing himself

On Monday night, fans in Sacramento had their first opportunity to see the youngster play as he made his Summer League debut against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The crowd inside the Golden 1 Center didn't have to wait long to see what the former Duke product has to offer.

In just the first quarter, Bagley got the crowd off their seats with the best play of the night.

After receiving a pass from De'Aaron Fox, he drove into the lane and threw down a vicious dunk on Lakers rookie Moe Wagner.

The one-handed slam sent the arena and his teammates into raptures and he couldn't help but let out a scream and a celebration himself.

It may only be Summer League but it can still be classed as a welcome to the NBA moment for Wagner, who the Lakers selected with a late first-round pick.

Star in the making

Kings fans haven't had much to cheer in recent years but they caught an exciting glimpse of their future with the power forward's athleticism and overall play.

He produced a strong performance as he ended the night with 18 points, six rebounds, and three blocks.

The Arizona native showed a bit of everything on both ends of the floor, including his three-point shooting ability.

“It was good to get out there finally after all the practices and everything that’s been going on,” he said after the game. “Most importantly we got the win and everybody played together. I felt good about this game moving forward.”

There was a terrific atmosphere inside the arena and the rookie's early dunk ignited everybody as it had the feel of an actual NBA game.

“As soon as we ran out of the tunnel, you could feel the energy in the building. When they introduced us, you could still feel the energy,” Bagley III added.

This was a hugely encouraging start for the versatile forward and Sac fans will have another opportunity to catch him in action again on Tuesday night as they take on the Golden State Warriors.
