Around two weeks ago, Dwight Howard was reportedly traded away by the Charlotte Hornets to the Brooklyn Nets

The Hornets sent Howard to the Nets in exchange for center Timofey Mozgov, two future second-round picks and cash. Charlotte will receive the Nets' second-round pick (No. 45) in Thursday's NBA draft and a 2021 second-round pick.

The trade itself cannot be completed until the moratorium ends on July 6. The eight-time NBA All-Star is changing teams now for the third time in three years, his fourth team in the past four years.

Once that happens, Howard is expected to negotiate a buyout with Nets so that he can go elsewhere on a new deal.

If reports are to be believed, the 32-year-old already has his next team lined up for when that buyout is completed.

Wizard Howard

According to Yahoo! Sports' Chris Mannix, the Washington Wizards and Howard are close to an agreement on a one-year deal which will be signed once his buyout with the Nets is completed and once he has cleared with waivers.

The reason why Howard might be enticed to join the Wizards this offseason is because they will provide him with the chance to play in their starting lineup, an option which he might not have on other teams around the league.

The Wizards trading Marcin Gortat to the Los Angeles Clippers for Austin Rivers provides a spot for Howard to start for a playoff team alongside five-time All-Star point guard John Wall.

Howard should be able to contribute for Washington next season should he sign for the team, as he averaged 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game over 81 games for the Hornets last season.

The center should be a welcomed addition to the Wizards next season as well, as his experience should be able to help the team go beyond the Eastern Conference Semifinals in the playoffs for the first time since the 1978-79 season.
