France are set to take on Uruguay in a World Cup quarter-final on Friday afternoon.

PSG's teenage superstar Kylian Mbappe was the star man in their thrilling 4-3 victory over Argentina in the Round of 16.

Uruguay have the best defence in the competition and Luis Suarez is confident that they can keep Mbappe quiet.

"Everybody knows he [Mbappe] is a really good player, but I think we have a really good defence to control him," said the Barcelona striker, as per Sky Sports.

Skilful French winger Ousmane Dembele is another player the Uruguayan defence may need to keep tabs on.

The 21-year-old Barcelona star is likely to start from the bench.

Bizarrely, in the build-up to the game, France boss Didier Deschamps has criticised Dembele for his "unacceptable" behaviour last summer.

Dembele slammed by his boss

Borussia Dortmund reluctantly sold the French winger for £135.5m in 2017 after just one season in the Bundesliga.

Dembele left the club on bad terms, forcing a move to Barcelona after refusing to train.

"It was unacceptable behaviour," said Deschamps to Sport Bild ahead of their World Cup quarter-final.

"Dembele's attitude caused problems at Dortmund, for his team-mates and in the national team.

"I could not call up Dembele for the France squad because he was not training. It's an attitude we can't tolerate one of our players having."

What bizarre timing to criticise one of your players.

Dembele featured in each of France's group games at the 2018 World Cup but was an unused substitute against Argentina.

In March, the young Frenchman stood by his controversial behaviour at Dortmund.

"What else should I have done? If Barcelona cancelled [their interest] for a second time that would have been impossible for me," he told Onze Mondial, referencing Barcelona's initial interest during his breakthrough season at Rennes.

"I'd like to know how the people who criticise me would have behaved if they had been in my position.

"I had the impression that I would miss the fulfilment of my dream, which is why I behaved like that. That's what I stand for."
