Although there's understandably some disappointment at the fact that Seth Rollins isn't in the Universal Championship picture, he still has the opportunity to steal the show at Extreme Rules.

When general manager Kurt Angle announced that there would be a multi-man match to determine who challenges Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship next, The Kingslayer was a popular option.

EXTREME RULES

It all seemed to fit into place, too.

Rumours had been circulating for weeks, while the timely loss of his Intercontinental Championship also pointed to that outcome.

Instead, Roman Reigns battles Bobby Lashley while the former Shield star takes on Dolph Ziggler in a 30-minute Ironman match with the Intercontinental title on the line.

However, fans on Reddit seem to know what the WWE has planned for their contest.

As we've seen on Monday Night RAW, any threat that Rollins brings towards Ziggler seems to be neutralised by Drew McIntyre; the anomaly in this feud and another star fans want in the Universal Championship picture.

Despite getting help from The Big Dog in recent weeks, he has his hands full with Lashley - but fans think one of two returns could be on the cards to ensure the feud is fair moving forward.

RETURN?

Although the initial suggestion was a potential Dean Ambrose return, more fans seem to think the return of Jason Jordan seems more likely.

The Lunatic Fringe was spotted at the Performance Center last month, suggesting that he was nearing an in-ring return and it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he ended up back on television sooner than anticipated.

WWE loves a good comeback story.

There had also been rumours that the initial storyline - if Ambrose didn't get injured - was that he'd turn on The Architect and it would lead to a WrestleMania match between the pair.

Along with this, it's been speculated that Ambrose will turn heel upon his return and will be a main event star, too.

Jordan, the former American Alpha member, has been backstage for several weeks now.

In his case, it was speculated that Jordan could slot into the possible feud between Angle and Constable Baron Corbin.

However, fans seem to think Jordan could pick up where he left off in his angle with Rollins, before he too suffered an untimely injury.

Both options make sense as Rollins' storylines before WrestleMania featured both men.

Although fans would prefer it to be Ambrose, having somebody make it a level playing field does make sense.
