The complex is regularly flooded during the rainy season, which will last until September or October. The youngsters have received food, foil blankets and medical attention, and it is hoped they will be allowed to speak to their families soon. The matter has attracted worldwide attention. And it caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp, who has sent the team a wonderful message of support.

Klopp's message

“On behalf of the whole LFC family, we wish you from the bottom of our hearts all the best,” the Liverpool boss says.

“We are with you – and You'll Never Walk Alone.”

Class.

The boys and their coach were trapped after taking a bike ride to the caves on June 23.

One of the players was celebrating his 16th birthday and so the team had taken a picnic.

Reports suggest they wanted to explore deeper than they had on previous occasions but became trapped when sudden heavy rains flooded the exit.

They were then stuck as a result of the mud and debris.

What’s making the rescue attempts difficult is the sweltering temperatures that teams are working in.

The heat has reached 30C, and the site is submerged in mud that is several inches thick.

But teams are aware of the need to act quickly. Once the monsoon rains begin, it will be much more difficult to rescue the 12 boys and their coach.

Volunteers are helping out by handing out water bottles and ice lollies to those on site, while workers for the Thai royal kitchen are providing hot food.

Everyone at GiveMeSport wishes the team are rescued safely.
