Earlier this week, Max Holloway had to pull out of his UFC Featherweight Championship defense against Brian Ortega at UFC 226.The reason why Blessed has pulled out of the title fight this Saturday is due to the fact he had been struggling with concussion-like symptoms which caused him to be admitted to a local hospital on Monday night. The UFC Featherweight Champion felt better on Tuesday and argued with his team to stay in the fight. However, his condition worsened on Wednesday and he was eventually pulled from the card.As a result, Ortega was pulled from the UFC 226 card as well, and Francis Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis was bumped up as the co-main event on the card alongside Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier.Nobody wants to see a fight cancelled due to injury and, despite his differences with Holloway over the years, Conor McGregor sent his get well soon wishes to the current UFC Featherweight Champion.

Heartfelt

The former UFC Lightweight Champion said to Blessed on Twitter: "My thoughts and my respect are with 145lb World Champion Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway."

As well as it being a heartfelt message by McGregor, this might be one of the first times which Notorious has recognised some other than himself as the UFC Featherweight Champion.

Holloway and McGregor fought against one another inside the Octagon before their respective UFC careers took off, as Notorious defeated Blessed via unanimous decision at a UFC Fight Night in August 2013.

McGregor hasn't fought inside the Octagon since he faced Eddie Alvarez for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 205 in November 2016.

As for when Notorious will compete for UFC again, that remains to be seen, as we likely won't hear anything on his UFC future until his court case for his bus attack during UFC 223 fight week is settled.

Blessed has now withdrawn from three fights this year, as he withdrew from a UFC 222 defense vs Frankie Edgar due to a leg injury, as well as a short-notice fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223.

It is unknown as to when he will compete inside the Octagon again under the UFC banner.
