DeMarcus Cousins officially became a member of the Golden State Warriors yesterday when he signed his one-year deal with the team.

However, when it comes to making his first appearance for the team, fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see Boogie in a Warriors jersey on the hardwood of the Oracle Arena.

Many NBA fans have kept their expectations realistic on when they'd expect Cousins to be back on the court, as most estimations had him back before the start of 2019.

The man himself believed for some time he could be ready in time for training camp, which would have been a big goal for him to achieve. However, it now appears he has scaled this back.

100 percent

Speaking to the media after signing his Golden State deal, via ESPN, Cousins said that he's not going to rush his recovery and that he'll make his return to the court when he's ready.

Cousins said at a news conference at the Thomas & Mack Center at UNLV after he signed his contract with the Warriors: "I was aiming for training camp, but I've communicated with the staff and the coaches, and it's kind of up in the air.

"It will be when I'm ready, 100 percent ready, and we'll take it from there."

Recovery progress

Boogie has been out of action since tearing his Achilles back in January while he was a member of the New Orleans Pelicans. As for how his recovery is going, he says it's coming along great.

He said: "It's coming along great. Basically, the healing part is over, and now it's just about building strength. I'm improving each and every day.

"I feel stronger each and every day, and it's just a matter of time before I'm back on the floor."

When healthy, Cousins would give Golden State five current All-Stars on its roster, joining Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, making them arguably the strongest starting five in the league.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has said as well that Boogie will start when he is fit enough to play, and Boogie wants to do his bit to help this team win when he does return.

Cousins said: "I'm coming in just playing my part. I'll do whatever it takes to help this team win.

"Of course, I'm in position where I'm able to play for a championship, and every NBA player's goal is to win a championship."
